Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, people will need not to live in Dhaka in a few years. They will work in Dhaka coming from outside and will return home. We are working on according to that planning.
She said these while inaugurating the Badda North U-loop in the capital on Saturday.
The Prime Minister said, we will start bullet train or hi-speed train so that people can reach Chattogram from Dhaka within only one hour. These types of trains will start from Dhaka to Chattogram, Dhaka to Sylhet, Dhaka to Rajshahi, Dhaka to Dinajpur, Dhaka to Barishal even from Dhaka to Kolkata.
She said, number of people is increasing in Dhaka. People’s arrival in Dhaka is increasing as well as financial activities are expanding. Beyond the ring roads small towns will be set up throughout Dhaka. These towns will be set up erecting high rise buildings.
Highlighting different projects of the government to ease communication between Dhaka and adjacent cities, Sheikh Hasina said, metro rail will be started to reach passengers from Uttara to Motijheel, this 20 kilometers way in just 38 minutes. Thus the commute in different parts will be easier within Dhaka. If the Bus Rapid Transit starts from Gazipur to Shahjalal Airport then commute from Tongi and Uttara with Dhaka will be easier.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain spoke on the occasion.
Earlier the Prime Minister inaugurated the U-loop at Badda end under Hatirjheel integrated development project. After inauguration she toured the U-loop in her vehicle. Then preparation started to open it for traffic.
The U-loop is 450 meters long and 10 meters wide. The cost of the project was 40 crore taka. 17 Engineering Construction Battalion (ECB) of Bangladesh Army implemented the project. Spectra Engineers Limited was responsible for construction work.
