International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tazul Islam has stated that any phase of a judicial trial may be broadcast live or in recorded format on media or social media, subject to court approval.
On Tuesday (May 20), he made this statement in a Facebook post.
Tazul Islam mentioned that the courtroom has been equipped with digital technology to facilitate the trial of crimes against humanity committed during July-August. With the court’s permission, any phase of the judicial trial may be broadcast either live or as a recorded version through the media or on social media platforms.
Meanwhile, the High Court has issued a rule asking why an order should not be given to live broadcast hearings of important and constitutional cases filed in the Supreme Court.
The rule was issued by the High Court bench of Justice Habibul Gani and Justice Syed Mohammad Tajrul Hossain. Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir represented the petition in court.
It is noteworthy that on January 27, a writ petition was filed seeking a directive for the live broadcast of hearings of important and constitutional cases in the Supreme Court.
