The chief adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Bangladesh.

He extended the invitation by joining the third Voice of Global South Summit virtually on Saturday (August 17). However, in the current situation of the country, there is a lot of discussion about the relationship of the interim government with India.

The student uprising in Bangladesh inspired the youth of the Global South, Dr. Yunus said the government is committed to holding free, fair, and participatory elections to ensure an inclusive, pluralistic democratic transition. Reforming the electoral system, judicial system, local government system, media, economy, and education system is one of the tasks of the interim government.

The inaugural session of the conference will be at the Heads of State and Government level, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome the guests. The theme of the opening session is the same as the main theme of the Summit—' An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future'.

This will be Professor Yunus' first global event after being sworn in as the head of the interim government.
