It is known that sugar was sold at Tk 135 per kg during the Awami League government. Currently, it is selling at Tk 125 to 127 per kg. That is, per kg, sugar has decreased from Tk 8 to 10. Similarly, the price of sugar has decreased in the wholesale market as well.

Md. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury said, 'According to the company, sugar is being sold at Tk 118 to 120 per kg in the wholesale market of Chattogram. Sugar prices have fallen since August 5. Earlier, per kg, sugar was sold wholesale from Tk 122 to Tk 125. On the other hand, government sugar is being sold at the millgate at Tk 125. This price has been the same for a long time.
