Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, the government is working for creating science minded young society. One day man from Bangladesh will land on the moon and the country is working on to fulfill the dream.
She said these while inaugurating two satellite ground stations in Gazipur and Betbunia of Rangamati through video conference from Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Tuesday. Through this the service activities of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 started formally.
The Prime Minister said, we have reached in the space, dream of father of the nation have succeeded, nobody can make us oppressed. Bangabandhu satellite will play role for our socio-economic development. We are the 57th country who has satellite.
She said, Bangabandhu satellite will play role for overall development of the country. The journey of development that has begun for Bangladesh should continue in future.
Sheikh Hasina said, the journey which started from Mujib has reached towards Sajeeb. Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established satellite ground station at Betbunia in 1975. With this continuation grandson of father of the nation Sajeeb Wazed Joy sent Bangabandhu satellite in space.
She said, Bangladesh’s telephone was under analog system. We upgraded the system into digital. We have made mobile telephone service open under private sector. There was no mobile phone service in Chittagong Hill Tracts. But now there is mobile phone service.
In the program Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar proposed for naming the two satellite ground stations after Sajeeb Wazed Joy. Granting the proposal the two satellite ground stations were named after Prime Minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
In the program Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Information Hasanul Haq Inu, Prime Minister’s ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy were present as special guests which was presided over by Post, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar.
