After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, there were calls to resign of VC from various universities. Many are not coming to work even if they don't resign. This has left many universities without guardians. Educational programs are closed.
In this situation, even if there is no Vice Chancellor (VC), the Ministry of Education has ordered to keep the administrative activities of the university running. A senior professor will perform this duty in consultation with the university dean's council or department Chairmen.
This order was given in a circular signed by Shaheenur Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Government General University Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Department
on Thursday (August 29).
The interim government has already appointed Vice-Chancellors in some universities in order to speed up the university programmes. In many universities, the recruitment process of vice chancellors is going on.
