The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed all the secondary schools in the country to send information on vacant seats for the admission of students from class 1 to 9 through a lottery system for the next academic year (2025) under the Ministry of Education.

DSHE published a circular in this regard on Sunday (November 3).

It is said that for the next academic year (2025), the government and private secondary schools located in the city and district Sadar Upazila have been instructed to send the information of vacant seats for the admission of students in the first to ninth grade through a lottery system.

The process of submitting this information started on October 30 and will end on November 8, the educational institutions have to go to the website gsa.teletalk.com.bd and submit the required information.

Important schedule of the admission process:

  • Last date for submission of information: 8 November 2024
  • Start of receipt of online applications: 12 November 2024
  • Last date for receipt of online application: 30 November 2024
  • Admission Lottery: December 2024 (date to be announced later)

Every institution has to provide correct information following the guidelines set by the Ministry of Education. There is a rule to include a maximum of three police stations in the designated area for institutions in Dhaka. Besides, it has been made mandatory for the institution heads to provide online bank account numbers and routing numbers to add bank-related information to the online application form. DSHE directed that the head of the institution should be personally responsible if wrong information is submitted.

Change in the quota system in admissions
Some changes have been made in the quota-based admission process. Earlier, a 5 percent quota was reserved for the children of freedom fighters, but if the seats were vacant, the grandchildren were also allowed to get admission to that quota. According to the new rules, only the children of freedom fighters will get this quota benefit. If the seat is vacant, students will be admitted from the merit list.
