BNP vowed to establish democracy in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, today we have taken an oath that whatever obstacles may come, we will face all challenges and work to establish democracy and free market economy in Bangladesh.
He said these after paying trebutes at the grave of founder Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of the party's 46th founding anniversary on Sunday (September 1).
Mirza Fakhrul Islam said that BNP had to struggle for 15 years for the new independence that Bangladesh has achieved in 2024. More than 700 of our activists have gone missing. 2 thousand activists were shot dead. False cases have been filed against more than 60 lakh activists for this democratic struggle.
He said, we are thanking Allah for today. I am able to celebrate this day in a free and independent environment with the students.
BNP Secretary General said, Bangladesh Nationalist Party has always led. We hope they will move forward correctly with their right politics and people. Will focus on rebuilding the country.
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, BNP central leader Abdus Salam, Saiful Alam Nirob and others were present at this time.
On September 1, 1978, former President Ziaur Rahman formed the BNP with the aim of 'establishing a justice-based society through the establishment of multi-party democracy and fundamental rights based on Bangladeshi nationalism and the 19-point programme.'
Currently, his wife Khaleda Zia is the chairperson of the party and his son Tariq Rahman is the acting chairman.
