Joint operation from 4 Sep to recover illegal weapons

After the fall of government in the recent anti-discrimination movement, angry mobs torched and attacked various police stations across the country. After attacking police stations and outposts, they looted weapons and ammunition. So far 3 thousand 872 looted weapons and ammunition have been recovered.

In view of this, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that a joint operation will be conducted to recover illegal weapons from Wednesday (September 4).

Faisal Ahmed, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed this information in a circular on Sunday (September 1).

It has been said that an operation to recover illegal weapons will be conducted from September 4, 2024.

If any person has such weapons and ammunition, they have been informed by the police to submit them to the nearest police station by September 3. Otherwise legal action will be taken against them.

Earlier, on Saturday (August 31), Inamul Haque Sagar, Superintendent of Police from Media and Public Relations Department of Police Headquarters said that 3 thousand 872 different types of weapons, 2 lakh 86 thousand 216 rounds of ammunition, 22 thousand 201 tear shells and 2 sound grenades were recently looted from all over the country.
