Washington would support interim govt of Bangladesh: US envoy
The United States will support Bangladesh's interim government and enhance cooperation on various issues, US chargé d'affaires Helen LaFave announced today during a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in Dhaka.
LaFave praised Yunus and expressed eagerness to collaborate on health, education, labor, governance, and Rohingya matters.
She noted that the US Embassy will resume consular services this week to expedite visa processing and highlighted ongoing efforts to resettle Rohingyas and increase humanitarian aid.
Yunus expressed gratitude for US support and emphasized the interim government's commitment to significant reforms and upcoming elections.
Discussions also covered labor rights, minority issues, and human rights, with LaFave indicating US support for establishing a fair prosecutorial service in Bangladesh.
