The prices of several vegetables have decreased in the capital's vegetable market. Green chilis, brinjals, tomatoes, and papayas are on the list. On the other hand, eggs and chicken are being sold at higher prices than before in the market.

This information was obtained by visiting the capital's Karwan Bazar, Sheorapara, Motijheel, Hatirpool, and other markets and talking to the relevant vendors on Friday (September 6).

The sellers said that the price of vegetables has decreased slightly compared to last week. Jasim, a vegetable seller at Karwan Bazar, said that the price of some vegetables has decreased slightly due to the increase in supply. However, most prices remain unchanged.

In the market, bitter gourd is selling at Tk 60, cucumber Tk 40, brinjal Tk 80-100, tomato Tk 140, taro stem root Tk 50-60, pointed gourd Tk 40, papaya 20-25 taka. String beans are selling at Tk 60, arum lobe at Tk 50, potato at Tk 60, lady's finger at Tk 40, Snake gourd at Tk 50, and carrot at Tk 60.

Apart from this, each kg of green chili is being sold at Tk 160-200 depending on the market. And for each piece of gourd, you have to pay Tk 50.

Buyers say that the price of vegetables is less than the previous week. However, the price of potato, onion, and green chili is high. A buyer named Sadiq said that the prices of potatoes and onions in the market are excessive. The government should focus on reducing the prices of these products.

However, the price of eggs and chickens is high in the market. The price of all types of chicken has increased up to Tk 10 per kg in a week. Broiler chicken is selling at Tk 170-175 per kg, golden chicken is selling at Tk 240-260, a white layer at Tk 240, and red layer at Tk 280. Apart from this, each piece of duck is being sold at Tk 550-600 depending on the breed.

Beef prices remain unchanged. Beef is being sold at Tk 750-800 per kg. Apart from this, Mutton is being sold at Tk 1,050 to Tk 1,100 per kg.

Red eggs are being sold at Tk 155-160 per dozen in the market, and white eggs at 150 taka. And per dozen, duck eggs are being sold at Tk 220 and country chicken eggs at Tk 230.

Meanwhile, the price of all types of fish has increased by Tk 20-40 per kg except Hilsa. Salmon is being sold at Tk 360-380 per kg, Pangas at Tk 200-220, climbing fish at Tk 240-280, barbel fish at Tk 550-600 per kg, and Pabda at Tk 500-550 per kg.

Traders say that the reason for the increase of fish prices is the fish of the farmers have been washed away in several areas due to floods. As a result, the price of fish is slightly higher as the supply is less than the demand in the market.

Regular market monitoring is demanded by both buyers and sellers to control the price of daily commodities.

According to buyers, regular market monitoring is not followed. In this, the sellers get the opportunity to increase the price as they wish.
