Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Finance and Trade advisor to the interim government said that instead of relying on foreign loans, emphasis should be placed on raising funds from own sources. The government needs money right now. For this, the wastage of government money should be reduced.

He made this call at a discussion meeting on the changes brought in the field of direct taxes through the 'Finance Act, 2024'. The discussion meeting was organized by the Bangladesh Civil Service (Taxation) Association at the Multipurpose Hall of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) at Capital's Agargaon area on Saturday (September 14).

The financial advisor said to the tax officials that fear should not be created in the minds of taxpayers. Do justice to them.

He said, "Foreign investment will not be available that much. Depends on internal revenue. Therefore, the length of revenue collection should be reduced. Direct tax can't be evaded. But we have a problem with indirect tax. Do not collect revenue from anyone through hardship.

Abdur Rahman Khan, the Chairman of NBR, announced that the laws of NBR would be made business-friendly and said, "I request everyone to submit their returns online. People are burdened with debt, while NBR is not able to collect the desired revenue. We have to get out of here."
