U.S. Delegation Meets Bangladesh Interim Government to Strengthen Ties

A high-level U.S. interagency delegation has arrived in Dhaka to meet with key members of the Bangladesh Interim Government, including Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, and Finance and Commerce Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.

The U.S. delegation comprises Department of Treasury Assistant Secretary Brent Neiman, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu, USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia Änjali Kaur, and Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Brendan Lynch.

The discussions focused on enhancing economic opportunities, ensuring financial stability, and reinforcing democratic governance in Bangladesh.

During the visit, USAID signed a development agreement exceeding $200 million with the Interim Government. This agreement aims to support Bangladesh's development goals, improve governance, expand trade, and create opportunities for a more prosperous future. From 2021 to 2026, USAID has committed nearly $1 billion to Bangladesh to improve living conditions and support democratic and equitable progress.
