14 Thousand, 269 Crore, 68 Lakh Worth Damaged in Recent Floods
The people of 9 districts including Feni, Noakhali, Cumilla, and Chattogram, have witnessed the worst flood in recorded history just a month ago due to continuous rains and upstream flows from India. Even though the flood situation is normal now, the impression of cruelty remains. Many affected people still could not stand upright. Many have lost their homes and are living in the shelter of others. Many are destitute due to the loss of crops and work.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has released the latest estimate of the damage caused by the recent floods. Advisor Farooq-e-Azam said that a total of 14 thousand 269 crores 68 lakhs 33 thousand 522 taka worth has been damaged in recent floods.
He gave this information to reporters at an event at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief at the secretariat on Tuesday (September 17).
In addition to this calculation of damage, the advisor also said that a total of 9 lakh 42 thousand 811 people have faced direct damage in the flood-affected areas. Besides, 74 people died. 68 people were injured.
On the same day, Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Advisor Farooq-e-Azam received a grant check of Tk19 crore from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education to provide humanitarian assistance to the flood-affected districts. This money will be deposited in the Chief Advisor's Relief and Welfare Fund. This money has been given from one day's salary to the officers and employees of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the departments and organizations under it.
