Ali Riaz Replaces Shahdeen Malik as Constitutional Reform Head
Professor Ali Riaz has replaced Dr. Shahdeen Malik as the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission. A notification from the Cabinet Division on Wednesday (September 18) confirmed this change.
The notification stated that on September 11, in a speech to the nation, the interim government's chief advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, announced the formation of six commissions for reforms and named their heads. Dr. Shahdeen Malik was named as the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission. However, Professor Ali Riaz has now been included in this role.
When asked about this, the advisor on law, justice, and parliamentary affairs, Asif Nazrul, told the media that Dr. Shahdeen Malik has expressed his inability to serve as the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission due to professional commitments.
Dr. Ali Riaz is a renowned political scientist. He is a distinguished professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a senior non-resident fellow at the Atlantic Council, and the president of the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS). He is associated with various international research institutions.
