Additional DIG of Chattogram Range Moshiur Arrested
Moshiur Rahman, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Bangladesh Police from Chattogram Range has been arrested by the Detective Police (DB). He was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday (September 19) night.
The Detective Branch took him into custody late on Thursday. He was shown being arrested after being taken into DB custody.
Rezaul Karim Mallick, head of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch, confirmed the information. He added that Moshiur was an accused in several murder cases filed after August 5 when the Sheikh Hasina-led government was ousted through a mass protest.
However, the Detective team arrested Mashiur Rahman in connection with a case filed with the New Market Police Station.
Moshiur Rahman, a former deputy commissioner of the DMP Detective Branch's Gulshan Division and Lalbagh Division. He continued to serve as the Deputy Commissioner of Lalbagh Division (Detectives) until August 5.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, Moshiur, along with 28 others, was also transferred as Superintendent of Police of Chattogram Range on August 13.
"He was trying to flee the country through the airport on Thursday when he was detained from there," said DB sources.
Moshiur Rahman received the President Police Medal (PPM) in 2013 and the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) in 2015 and 2019. He has also been awarded the 'IGP Exemplary Good Services Batch' four times for his performance and received the "Shuddhachar Award" for the year 2022-23.
