Bus Owner Arrested Over Toll Plaza Tragedy Killing Six
Bus owner has been arrested in connection with a fatal accident at the Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza in Kuchiapara, located on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, which resulted in the deaths of six people.
W. Bepari, the owner of the bus, was taken into custody in Shibchar, Madaripur, around 12:30 AM on Saturday, December 28. This was confirmed by Dr. A K M Akhtaruzzaman Basunia, Additional DIG of Highway Police.
He mentioned that the bus had been taken out of the garage the day before the incident without a valid fitness certificate. Furthermore, it was being operated by a driver who was under the influence of alcohol and held an expired license. A case filed on Saturday by the victims' families at the Hasara Highway Police Station also implicated the bus owner, which led to his arrest.
Earlier, on the night of December 27, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Highway Police apprehended the bus driver, Nurunnabi, along with another individual in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.
Additionally, on Friday night, another bus driver, Mohammad Nur Uddin, was arrested in Siddhirganj. The tragic accident occurred earlier that day around 11 AM when the bus collided with a stationary motorcycle and microbus at the Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza, resulting in six deaths.
