The bail orders for 32 individuals arrested as members and associates of the banned militant organization Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya have been canceled.

On Wednesday, September 25, Bandarban District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Md. Moslehul Uddin canceled their bail. The Public Prosecutor (PP) of the District and Sessions Judge Court, Advocate Iqbal Karim, confirmed the matter.

On Tuesday, the court had granted bail to these 32 individuals. However, upon reviewing the bail documents, it was discovered that the guarantor for all the accused was the same person — Iman Hossain, son of Md. Khalil from Bandarban Sadar. For this reason, the bail was canceled.

The cancellation order stated that, although the accused were from different districts, none of them had guarantors from their respective areas. Furthermore, none of the accused were residents of Bandarban district, yet the guarantor was from there, and the same individual had stood as guarantor for all. Since the bail conditions required that prominent individuals from the respective areas of the accused act as guarantors, the failure to meet this condition led to the cancellation of the bail.

It is worth mentioning that these individuals were arrested last year by RAB (Rapid Action Battalion) and intelligence police from various places in Bandarban on charges of receiving training at the hideouts of the armed organization Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) and engaging in militant activities. They were arrested from Thanchi (21 individuals), Ruma (4 individuals), Naikhongchhari (2 individuals), and Bandarban Sadar (5 individuals).
