The court has granted bail to 32 members of the banned group Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya, who were accused of militant activities. On Tuesday (September 24), Judge Md. Mosle Uddin of the Bandarban District and Sessions Judge Court granted their bail.

These 32 individuals were arrested last year from various locations in Bandarban by members of RAB and the police's intelligence branch on charges of receiving training at the camp of the armed group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) and engaging in militant activities. They were shown arrested in four cases, and today, they were granted bail. Among them, 21 were arrested from Thanchi in Bandarban, 4 from Ruma, 2 from Naikhongchhari, and 5 from Bandarban Sadar. They were accused of receiving training at the KNF camp and conducting militant activities in different areas. When security forces launched an operation in the hills to combat KNF's terrorist activities, RAB conducted raids and arrested these individuals from various locations. At the time, RAB informed the media that some of those arrested included key figures involved in training and financing within Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya.

The defense lawyer, Md. Alamgir Chowdhury, stated that they were arrested from various parts of the country on accusations of militant involvement without any actual wrongdoing. Since no evidence of militant involvement was found against them, the court has granted their bail.

It is noteworthy that the armed group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) began its disruptive activities in Bandarban in 2022. Members of Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya were accused of receiving training at their camps in exchange for money.

On August 9, 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Security Division issued a notice banning Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya. The notice stated that the government had determined that the declared activities of the militant organization Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya were against the peace and order of the country. Considering that their activities had become a threat to public safety, the organization was banned in Bangladesh.
