19 Died of Dengue in A Week

Aedes mosquito-borne disease dengue has started increasing in the country. Along with death, the number of infected is also increasing by leaps and bounds. Patient pressure is increasing in hospitals.

According to the dengue report of the Department of Health, 19 people have died and 5,440 people have been hospitalized due to dengue this week (Saturday-Friday).

Last seven days statistics of dengue:
On September 21, 1 death and 843 hospitalizations were reported
On September 22, 6 deaths and 926 hospitalizations were reported
On September 23, 2 deaths and 866 hospitalizations were reported
On September 24, 3 deaths and 801 hospitalizations were reported
On September 25, 2 deaths and 854 hospitalizations were reported
On September 26, 3 deaths and 829 hospitalizations were reported
On September 27, 2 deaths and 321 hospitalizations were reported

So far this year, 27,707 people have been admitted to hospital due to dengue. Among them, 24,620 people got clearance. 143 people died.

Experts say that if the situation is not controlled soon, the dengue outbreak will take a more serious form in October.

Atiqur Rahman, a specialized doctor at DMC Hospital said that dengue is not seasonal now, it happens all year round. It is increasing when it starts raining. In addition to the use of anti-mosquito drugs for the prevention of dengue, the City Corporation should conduct campaigns everywhere. At the same time, everyone should be aware.

Entomologist Dr. Manjur Chowdhury says that appropriate measures should be taken with proper manpower by carrying out the survey properly.

It should be noted that 3,21,179 patients were affected by dengue and 1,705 people died in the history of the country in 2023.
