3,195 Arrested, Including 74 High-Profile Individuals

The police are committed to fulfilling the public’s aspirations in the new Bangladesh emerging from the anti-discrimination movement led by students and citizens. According to the police headquarters, 1,695 cases have been filed so far against those involved in killings, giving orders for murder, and carrying out attacks during the movement. Among those arrested are 74 high-profile individuals, with a total of 3,195 people taken into custody.

This information was disclosed in a press release issued on Sunday, October 13.

The police report states that these cases target those responsible for brutal attacks intended to suppress the movement, including those who ordered and incited the violence. In October alone, 3,195 individuals, including key leaders from the former ruling party, were arrested based on specific evidence of their involvement. Legal action against them is ongoing.

The police further noted that measures have also been taken against individuals involved in extortion, tender manipulation, and terrorism under the protection of political parties. This includes filing cases and making arrests, with legal proceedings continuing.

The police headquarters emphasized that their services will be harassment-free and citizen-friendly. Bangladesh Police will ensure that no one is unnecessarily harassed. The anti-discrimination movement is described as a groundbreaking milestone that has opened doors to limitless possibilities for all. The police are determined to work alongside students and the general public in building the Bangladesh everyone desires.
