Chief Adviser's Press Wing: No Plans to Ban Any Political Party
The interim government has not made any decision to ban any political party, said Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Press Secretary to Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
He made the statement during a press conference held on Monday, October 28, at the Foreign Service Academy on Hare Road.
When asked by reporters if the government was planning to ban any political party, Azad clarified, “The government has not taken any decision on that matter. Only the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has been banned, and that decision has already been announced.”
He further stated that the government currently has no intention to ban any political party.
On the issue of the president's removal, Azad said that Rizwana Hasan, the Environment, Forest, and Climate Adviser, has already addressed the topic, and the matter will be resolved through dialogue with political parties.
Meanwhile, Prof. Muhammad Yunus expressed his opinion that a replica of the "Ainaghar" (Mirror House) should be included in the Ganabhaban museum. This was Yunus’s first visit to Ganabhaban, following which the press conference was held.
Azad confirmed that, along with converting Ganabhaban into a museum, a replica of the Ainaghar will be built on the premises.
Additionally, a petition was filed in the High Court today, seeking a directive to bar the Awami League from engaging in any political activities. The petition was submitted by Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, and Hasibul Islam, coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement.
Earlier, on October 23, the interim government banned the Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing affiliated with the Awami League, through an official notification.
