Government Commits to Building an Equitable Bangladesh: Dr. Yunus
Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has stated that the interim government has accepted the challenge of building a new, equitable Bangladesh through reforms. He made this announcement in a message on Friday, November 1, on the occasion of "National Cooperative Day."
Dr. Yunus said that this 53rd National Cooperative Day in 2024 is being celebrated in a new Bangladesh achieved through the popular uprising of students, workers, and the public. He extended his greetings and congratulations to all members of the cooperative community in the country.
He emphasized the need for reforms in the cooperative sector to drive economic dynamism. A skilled and sustainable cooperative system is essential to foster entrepreneurship within society. With this goal in mind, this year’s theme for National Cooperative Day—“Building the Nation through Cooperatives, Towards an Equitable Bangladesh”—is timely and relevant.
The Chief Adviser noted that the cooperative sector has long played a vital role in poverty alleviation and socio-economic development. Currently, the interim government is working to enhance the capacity of cooperatives by providing intensive skill-based training, easy loan access, and technological and other support based on local needs. He stressed that cooperatives must be modernized and adapted to contemporary needs to realize the dream of a new economy.
Dr. Yunus wished success for all events organized to mark the 53rd National Cooperative Day in 2024.
