TCB To Distribute Products Via Smart Card From Jan 1
Products from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will be distributed through the Smart Family Card from January 1st next year. The use of handwritten cards for distributing goods will be discontinued.
This announcement was made by TCB spokesperson Humayun Kabir at a press briefing on preparations for Ramadan, held at the regional office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Saturday morning (November 9).
Humayun Kabir mentioned that all necessary preparations for Ramadan have been completed, including the import of essential goods. There will be no shortage of products during Ramadan.
He also said that oil, lentils, sugar, as well as dates and chickpeas, will be given to Dhaka and other city corporation areas. Contracts for dates and chickpeas have already been finalized, and the products will arrive at TCB's warehouses by January, according to the spokesperson.
A spokesperson of the government marketing agency said that there should be allowed no more than one person per family. That is why smart family cards are being made. A letter has been sent to the district administration based on the complaint against the dealers. Currently, recruitment of new dealers has been suspended. Notification will be given if a dealer is required in the future.
Humayun Kabir also said that there is no hindrance in reaching the TCB products at the local level. But the monitoring is not done properly. A meeting is being arranged to overcome this situation.
