Protesting the plan of government to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in the next parliament election BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, now BNP-phobia is working in government. To get rid of this phobia they are now carrying out EVM.
He said these while delivering speech as president at a public gathering organized on the occasion of 40th founding anniversary of BNP in front of party central office at Nayapaltan in the capital on Saturday.
Mirza Fakhrul said, Awami League claimed that young people are with them. Now the young generation wants that this misrule should go. Awami League has politically turned bankrupt. People have moved away from them.
Calling for a greater unity from the gathering he said, now no division is expected, we have to be united to protect democracy. Greater national unity has to be built to protect the country.
Urging leaders and activists to be united to establish democracy Fakhrul said, we have to stand up with courage. We do not want to see mother of democracy in the jail any more.
At that time he demanded release of Khaleda Zia and removal of all cases.
On the movement for safe roads the BNP leader said, children moved on roads. You have watched how they were repressed by wearing helmets. They were sent to remand.
Mirza Fakhrul said, no election will be held in the country keeping Begum Khaleda Zia in jail. Khaleda Zia has to be released, neutral government has to be formed, parliament has to be dissolved and army has to be deployed.
He said, conspiracy again started centering Tarique Rahman. They want to punish him over 21st August grenade attack case. Law Minister, Home Minister are saying before the verdict that Tarique Rahman will be punished in the case. Then have you written the verdict at the Gonobhaban? People will not accept any verdict of conspiracy.
To the government Fakhrul also said, release Begum Khaleda Zia, take measures for her treatment. You have to take the responsibility if anything happened. People of the country will not excuse you.
BNP standing committee members, vice chairmen, chairperson’s advisors, joint secretary generals and other leaders delivered speech in the gathering.
