Locals Detain Former MP Golam Kibria Tipu, Hand Him Over to Police
Golam Kibria Tipu, former Member of Parliament for the Barishal-3 constituency and a Presidium Member of the Jatiya Party (JAPA), was detained by locals and handed over to the police. A heroic freedom fighter, Tipu was detained in the Bir Bagair area of Keraniganj, Dhaka, around 7 p.m. on Thursday (November 14).
The incident was confirmed by Mazharul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of South Keraniganj Police Station. He stated that Tipu owns a house in Bir Bagair, where locals recognized him and reported his presence to the police. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the location and took Tipu to South Keraniganj Police Station. However, the OC clarified that there are no cases filed against him at the station.
OC Mazharul Islam further mentioned that the former MP is currently being questioned at the station.
Golam Kibria Tipu was elected as MP from the Barishal-3 (Babuganj-Muladi) constituency three times representing the Jatiya Party.
