Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman stated that the army is working tirelessly during the nation's critical times, dedicating their days and nights for the welfare of the country and its people.

He made these remarks on Sunday (December 1) during a reception for heroic freedom fighter army personnel and the Peace Time Medal Award Ceremony, organized to commemorate Armed Forces Day.

The Army Chief said, "We are striving to ensure a better and safer future for the country and its people. We are working diligently to navigate through the current situation and find a way forward."

The event, held at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment, honored award-winning freedom fighter army personnel and their families.

During the program, General Waker-Uz-Zaman exchanged greetings with decorated freedom fighters and their relatives. Additionally, he presented medals to 28 army personnel in recognition of their outstanding contributions during peacetime in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. These included five awards for the Army Medal (SBP), five for the Outstanding Service Medal (OSP), and 18 for the Distinguished Service Medal (BSP).

The program began with a summary of the heroic deeds of decorated freedom fighter soldiers during the Liberation War and the commendable achievements of the peacetime medal recipients.

It is worth noting that to eternally honor the contributions of freedom fighter army personnel in the nation's independence struggle, the army headquarters organizes this reception event annually.

The event was attended by decorated freedom fighters, their families, senior military officials, army personnel, invited guests, and media representatives.
