In July, the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Bangladesh faced severe criticism due to allegations of irregularities and corruption, including question leaks and political recommendations in cadre recruitment. After the resignation of the previous commission led by Sohrab Hossain, the new commission headed by Professor Dr. Mobassher Monem has taken office. In its very first meeting, the new commission has made significant decisions regarding the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS examinations.

Key Decisions:
Cancellation of All Oral Tests of the 44th BCS: The oral examinations of 3,930 candidates, held until July 18, were canceled. Initially, 11,732 candidates had passed the written test, but the oral examinations were suspended on August 25. Following the resignation of the previous commission on October 8, the new commission decided to cancel the partial oral tests and conduct fresh oral exams for all 11,732 candidates. Dates for the oral tests will be announced soon.

Re-publication of 46th BCS Preliminary Results: The commission has decided to re-publish the preliminary results of the 46th BCS to address potential disparities. While the initially selected 10,638 candidates will retain their eligibility, an additional 10,638 candidates will now also qualify for the written examination. The preliminary results for the 46th BCS were originally published on May 9.

Sending All 45th BCS Answer Scripts to a Third Examiner: Although the evaluation of the 45th BCS written examination scripts is nearly complete, the new commission has decided to send all scripts to a third examiner to ensure transparency and fairness. The written exams for the 45th BCS were held in January.

Additional Review:
The commission is also reviewing the results of the non-cadre position of Sub-Assistant Engineer (Railway). A decision regarding this examination will be announced soon.

The PSC announced these decisions during a commission meeting held on Monday, November 18, as stated in a press release issued by PSC’s Public Relations Officer, SM Matiur Rahman. The new commission emphasized maintaining transparency, fairness, and impartiality in all its decisions to restore public trust.
