Khaleda Zia to Attend Sena Kunjo After 15 Years
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will attend the Armed Forces Day event at Sena Kunjo in Dhaka Cantonment after a gap of 15 years. Her last participation in the Sena Kunjo event was in 2009. This information has been confirmed by BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan.
He stated that Khaleda Zia will attend the event at Sena Kunjo at 3:00 PM on Thursday (November 21) to mark Armed Forces Day.
Shayrul Kabir Khan further mentioned that on Tuesday (November 21), the Armed Forces Division of the Chief Adviser’s Office formally invited BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to participate in the reception at Sena Kunjo. That evening, the invitation was delivered to the BNP Chairperson by the Chief of General Staff (CGS), Lieutenant General Mizanur Rahman Shamim, and the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division, Lieutenant General A S M Kamrul Ahsan.
The personal assistant to the BNP Chairperson, ABM Abdus Sattar, stated that this will be the first time Khaleda Zia is attending the Armed Forces Day event after she was forcibly evicted from her residence in Dhaka Cantonment on November 13, 2011, under the directives of the autocratic Awami League government. Despite her physical illness, she has agreed to attend the event at the request of the Armed Forces. Along with her, around 30 senior leaders, including members of the BNP Standing Committee, will join the event at Sena Kunjo.
Khaleda Zia will depart from her residence in Gulshan, Firoza, at 3:00 PM and head towards Sena Kunjo. A special team from the army will escort her from Firoza to the venue and will ensure her safe return after the event.
He also mentioned that before the invitation was extended to the BNP Chairperson, a similar invitation was delivered to the BNP’s acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and other senior party leaders.
