Employees of the Finance Division staged a protest at the Bangladesh Secretariat for a second consecutive day on Thursday, demanding the removal of a joint secretary over allegations of misconduct.

The officials and employees of the Bangladesh Secretariat have announced a demonstration inside the Secretariat next Wednesday (4 December) to press a nine-point demand, including pay scale adjustments, removal of inequalities, and improved benefits.

The decision was announced today (28 November) during a rally organized by the Secretariat Officials and Employees Joint Council led by its president Md Badiul Kabir.

Badiul Kabir announced the general meeting next Wednesday (December 4) and said, "We are protesting to achieve our demands. We urge you to implement our demands without delay."

They also demanded the removal of a joint secretary on charges of delay and misconduct in implementing the demands at that time.

Making a 9-point demand, the speakers said that during the period of the fallen dictatorship, all orders imposed unfairly on the service should be withdrawn and instructions should be given to provide financial benefits on a par with regular jobs, including providing seniority based on ethnicity.

The rally was presided over by the President of the Joint Council Md. Badiul Kabir and moderated by Secretary General Nizam Uddin Ahmed.
