Bangladesh Railway is bringing back 102 retired employees on a one-year contractual basis to serve as station masters in its transportation division.
The decision was confirmed in an official letter signed by Palash Kumar Saha, Deputy Director (Personnel-3) of Bangladesh Railway, issued on Sunday, April 13.
The letter states that 102 retired employees from the Eastern and Western transportation divisions of Bangladesh Railway are being appointed on a one-year contractual basis, starting from the date of joining. The appointment is conditional on the employees not being engaged in any other profession, business, or employment with any government, semi-government, or private organisation.
The letter also included a copy of the approval received from the Ministry of Public Administration and has been sent to the General Managers of the Eastern and Western regions to proceed with the necessary steps. Copies were also forwarded to the Director General of Bangladesh Railway and other senior officials.
Railway officials have mentioned that hiring experienced retired employees on a contractual basis is a long-standing practice in the railway sector.
