Munni Saha Detained, Later Released to Family Custody: Police
Journalist Munni Saha, reportedly "unwell" due to a panic attack, was released into her family’s custody by police.
On Saturday night (November 30), Munni Saha faced a hostile crowd in the capital's Karwan Bazar. Police rescued her and brought her to the Detective Branch (DB) office.
Sources at the DB office stated that Munni Saha was released under Section 497, taking into account her panic attack and the overall situation. However, her release was conditional upon surrendering in court and securing bail in four separate cases.
The matter was confirmed late Saturday night by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner and DB Chief Rezaul Karim Mallik.
He stated, “Munni Saha was brought to the DB office for safety after being rescued. However, no decision was made to arrest her. Police intervened when a group blocked her way and surrounded her. Considering her condition after the panic attack and other factors, she was released to her family under Section 497.”
