Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman has said that the state will file an appeal with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court challenging the High Court verdict that acquitted all the accused from the August 21 grenade attack cases.

In an immediate response on Sunday (December 1) afternoon, the Attorney General said that a decision on the appeal would be announced after considering the High Court's verdict and taking instructions from the government.

He also said that I think an appeal should be filed.

Earlier in the day, the HC acquitted all the accused of the August 21 grenade attack cases including BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and former BNP state minister Lutfozzaman Babar.

The HC also scrapped the trial court verdict saying that the trial court had delivered the verdict illegally.

The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain delivered the verdict after hearing the death references and appeals related to the two cases filed over the grenade attack on the Awami League rally in 2004.
