TIB Calls for Disclosure of Wealth Information of ACC Chairman and Commissioners
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has called for the newly appointed chairman and commissioners of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to disclose their wealth statements and information regarding their political affiliations to ensure transparency.
TIB made this appeal in a press release on Wednesday (December 11).
TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said that in the interest of ensuring transparency and accountability at the top levels of the ACC, we call for proactive disclosure on certain matters including:
Information on income and assets acquired in their names or the names of close family members.
Consistency between the sources of legal income and the acquired wealth and assets.
Specific measures to verify the accuracy, adequacy, and consistency of income and asset statements through independent auditors.
Statements regarding any allegations of abuse of power, irregularities, or corruption at any stage of their professional careers, whether published or unpublished.
Information about direct or indirect political affiliations.
A declaration of readiness to voluntarily resign and undergo legal scrutiny in case of any inconsistencies related to the aforementioned matters.
Dr. Iftekharuzzaman further urged the ACC chairman and commissioners to remain steadfast in their commitment to the core principles of anti-discrimination movements and the vision of a new Bangladesh. He called for them to pledge to perform their entrusted duties with utmost integrity and respect.
