Rail Communication with Dhaka Disrupted
Temporary railway workers have blocked the Karwan Bazar railway crossing in the capital. As a result, rail communication between Dhaka and the rest of the country has been disrupted, causing delays in the railway schedule.
Rail communication has been halted since 10:45 am on Tuesday (December 17). Temporary workers began chanting slogans and blocking the FDC railway crossing in the morning.
Dhaka Railway Station Master Mohammad Anwar Hossain said train services have been suspended since 10:45 am due to track obstructions.
Mohammad Mohiuddin Arif, divisional manager of Bangladesh Railway for Dhaka, who was present at the scene, stated that the workers' salaries are overdue due to funding shortages and complications in the iBAS system. "We have now received the allocation. The only remaining task is to input the data into the iBAS system. The salaries will be disbursed within the next two days. We are requesting the workers to clear the railway tracks," he said.
