Dhaka Seeks Hasina's Extradition, Sends Letter to Delhi
Dhaka has sent a letter to Delhi requesting the return of Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country during a popular uprising.
On Monday (December 23) afternoon, Foreign Affairs Advisor Mohammad Touhid Hossain confirmed this information.
He stated that the request for Sheikh Hasina's return has been made to India to bring her before the judicial system. This initiative has been undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Bangladesh has already sent a note verbale to the Indian government regarding this matter.
Earlier in the day, during a medal distribution ceremony organized by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters in Pilkhana on the occasion of BGB Day, the issue of bringing back Sheikh Hasina was discussed by the interim government's Home Affairs Advisor, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He mentioned that a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take the necessary steps to contact India for the return of Sheikh Hasina. According to the extradition treaty, she can be returned.
