Ex-DB Chief Harun, Wife, and Brother Face ACC Cases

Separate cases have been filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against Harun-or-Rashid, the former chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB), his wife Shirin Akhter, and his brother ABM Shahriar for allegedly amassing illegal wealth worth approximately Tk 41 crore.

The cases were lodged on Tuesday (December 17) at the ACC's Dhaka Integrated District Office.

The ACC's Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter to the media.

According to the case details, Harun-or-Rashid, also known as DB Harun is accused of acquiring illegal assets worth Tk 17.51 crore, his wife Shirin Akhter Tk 10.76 crore, and his brother ABM Shahriar Tk 12.96 crore.

The cases have been filed under Section 27(1) of the ACC Act 2004 and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.
