Foreign Affairs Advisor Mohammad Touhid Hossain has stated that India has not yet provided an official response regarding the extradition of Sheikh Hasina.
He made the statement on Saturday (January 4) in the capital's Purbachal, after attending the annual general meeting organized by the Belabo Police Station Committee.
Meanwhile, on Friday (January 3), India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randeep Jayaswal mentioned that they had been informed about Bangladesh's message regarding Sheikh Hasina's extradition about a week ago.
However, he added that there was nothing more to comment beyond acknowledging the receipt of the message.
Additionally, a report by Hindustan Times regarding Sheikh Hasina's extradition stated that Bangladesh had not requested it in a legally valid manner.
Furthermore, there are many reasons why the request cannot be accepted based on the agreement. However, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson did not comment on the report.
It is worth noting that on August 5, Sheikh Hasina fled the country and sought refuge in India amid an uprising by students and the public. Since then, she has been staying in Delhi.
