Foreign Affairs Advisor Meets with President of Timor-Leste
Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain met with Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta, who is on a four-day visit to Dhaka.
The meeting took place on Sunday (15 December) at the Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
During the meeting, discussions were held on various bilateral issues. This is the second day of his visit. After the meeting with Foreign Affairs Advisor M Touhid Hossain, Horta is scheduled to meet Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus in the afternoon. Following the meeting, they will hold a joint press conference.
Later, in the presence of the two leaders, agreements will be signed on a visa exemption deal and a memorandum of understanding regarding Foreign Office Consultations (FOC).
On the third day of the visit, 16 December, Jose Ramos-Horta will meet President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban. He will also visit the National Memorial in Savar to pay tribute to the heroes of the Bangladesh Liberation War. Horta is set to attend the 54th Victory Day celebrations as well.
Earlier on Saturday night (14 December), the President of East Timor, Horta arrived in Dhaka for a four-day visit. He was welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Interim Government Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus.
President Horta was given a red carpet reception upon his arrival. He was accompanied by a 19-member delegation, including the country's Foreign Minister.
