Process Begins to Bring Sheikh Hasina Back: Foreign Advisor
Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain has stated that the process to bring former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back to the country is underway, following a court directive.
He made these remarks during a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (October 17), addressing current issues.
The advisor said that, besides allegations of issuing orders for indiscriminate killings during student protests, Sheikh Hasina also faces accusations of massive corruption in several mega projects. Efforts are underway to bring her back for trial on these charges.
He added, "The court has given a one-month timeframe. We will take all necessary steps within this period to ensure her return. Unofficially, we have learned that she is currently in Delhi."
Touhid Hossain further stated that the Foreign Ministry is also working to determine the whereabouts of 45 individuals, including Obaidul Quader, for whom the International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants.
Regarding stranded Bangladeshis in Lebanon, the advisor mentioned that efforts are being made to repatriate them from the war-torn country. Approximately 1,800 people have registered to return home.
