Donald Trump is set to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States today. On this occasion, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, extended his congratulations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed the news on Monday (January 20).

In his congratulatory message, the Chief Adviser expressed optimism about strengthening ties between Bangladesh and the United States. He highlighted the potential for exploring new opportunities for collaboration.

"We are confident that new fields of cooperation between our nations will be identified and pursued. I offer my heartfelt wishes to Donald Trump as he begins his presidency," he stated.

Trump's inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Monday morning (January 20) at 10 am local time at Capitol Hill, amid heightened security across Washington DC.

Notably, several heads of state and government from around the world are travelling to Washington for the event. The US Department of State has emphasized that while it is unusual for foreign leaders to attend such ceremonies, this year's event marks a significant exception.
