No Secrecy Surrounding BGB DG's Visit to India: BGB
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has announced that its Director General, Major General Mohammad Ashraful Islam Siddique, will attend the upcoming Director General-level conference with India's Border Security Force (BSF) in February. The BGB has emphasized that there is no secrecy surrounding this visit.
In a statement posted on its verified Facebook page on Friday (January 24), the BGB addressed recent reports suggesting otherwise. A particular report titled "Secrecy Surrounding BGB Chief's Visit to India Sparks Criticism on Social Media" has been criticized by the BGB for creating unnecessary confusion and tarnishing the organization's image.
The BGB clarified that it had already announced the conference in a Facebook post on December 27, 2024, noting that the event was scheduled for mid-February in India. This announcement was also covered by several media outlets. Furthermore, the Ministries of Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs have highlighted the matter during multiple press briefings.
The BGB expressed concern that such misleading reports could create unwarranted doubts at a time when the organization is actively collaborating with the public to maintain security at the borders.
The upcoming BGB-BSF Director General-level conference is set to take place in New Delhi, India, from February 17 to 21. Representatives from various ministries and agencies, alongside the BGB, will participate in the event. The BGB reiterated that there has been full transparency regarding the visit and urged everyone to avoid spreading misinformation.
