Surprise is being created one by one for selecting different alliance’s candidates in Habiganj keeping ahead the eleventh nation parliament election. After the surprise of collecting nomination papers for Awami League by former Bangladesh Bank governor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin from Habiganj-4 constituency, the new surprise has been created through collecting nomination papers by Awami League’s late finance minister Shah AMS Kibria’s son Dr. Reza Kibria from Oikyafront for Habiganj-1 constituency.

Shah AMS Kibria was the lawmaker from Habiganj-3 (Habiganj sadar-Lakhai) constituency in 2001.

Meanwhile, the leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies of Habiganj-1 constituency said that if he collects nomination papers for Gono Forum then he has to contest the election with the symbol sheaf of paddy.

In this regard Dr. Reza Kibria told newsmen, I was never a member of Awami League, my father was. So nobody can term me as a forsaken member of Awami League. I like Dr. Kamal Hossain. I have intimacy with him for a long period and that’s why I have collected nomination papers from his party Gono Forum.

Mentionable, father of Dr. Reza Kibria late Shah AMS Kibria performed his duties as the finance minister under Awami League government from 1996. He was elected Member of Parliament from Habiganj-3 constituency in the election of 2001. On January 27, 2005 five leaders and activists of Awami League including Shah AMS Kibria were killed in a grenade attack at a rally at Boidder Bazar under Habiganj sadar upazila. The trial is not completed till at present for the two cases filed in this connection.
