BNP standing committee member Rafiqul Islam Mia arrested
Former minister and BNP standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia was arrested in connection with a case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for not submitting his wealth statement.
He was arrested from his own house at Eskaton in the capital on Tuesday evening.
BNP Chairperson’s press wing officer Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to Rtv online.
Meanwhile, ADC of Detective Branch (North) Shahjahan Saju confirmed the matter and said, there was arrest warrant against Rafiqul Islam.
Earlier in the afternoon the court awarded three years imprisonment to him in the ACC case. Judge of Dhaka special court-6 Dr. Sheikh Golam Mahabub delivered the verdict. He was also fined 50 thousand taka and in default he has to serve three more months in jail.
The court also issued arrest warrant against Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia. He collected nomination papers from Dhaka-16 constituency. He is also the member of BNP nomination board.
