While conducting electioneering for eleventh national parliament election the incident of attack happened on BNP standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy. 20 to 25 people were also injured in the incident.
Goyeshwar was under attack at Chunkutia intersection area at Keranigant in the capital while conducting election mass contact on Tuesday.
BNP’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi confirmed the matter of attack.
He said, on Tuesday evening sheaf of paddy candidate Goyeshwar Chandra Roy began his election campaign along with his activists-supporters at Chunkutia intersection area under Dhaka-3 constituency.
Rizvi said, while electioneering a group of miscreants attacked him with sticks and homemade arms. The candidate of BNP in Dhaka-3 constituency Goyeshwar Chandra Roy along with a number of activists-supporters was injured in the attack.
Later he was admitted to a hospital in the capital.
Treatment is undergoing for the injured in the hospital, Rizvi added.
