BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said it is not possible to hold a fair election without neutral government due to prevailing political culture in Bangladesh.
Fakhrul came up with the observation while talking to journalists in front of his Thakurgaon residence in the morning.
“No congenial election atmosphere is prevailing in the country as top BNP leaders, candidates have come under attacks in the last few days. It’s very unfortunate that these attacks are being carried out by the state itself,’ he said.
He also alleged that the goons led by Awami League men equipped with locally-made weapons were threatening people not to go polling centres to cast their votes. And, the members of law enforcing agencies are accompanying the hoodlums, he also alleged.
After torching AL offices, the Ramesh Bahini are blaming BNP for all those horrific activities.
Fakhrul also made allegation that the administration has held a meeting with the presiding officers and decided that no activities will be done against the government.
Fakhrul informed the media that his wife and daughter were attacked in Thakurgaon on Wednesday.
He, however, reiterated that BNP will stay in the election race till the end and will prove that free, fair and neutral election is not possible under the partisan government in this country.
