Home Affairs Advisor Lt. General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has emphasized that only law enforcement agencies have the authority to conduct raids, and no other entity is permitted to do so.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday (March 6) after visiting the Tourist Police Headquarters in Paltan, Dhaka, he addressed concerns about the growing trend of mob justice in the country.
"Mob incidents are happening—I won't deny it. However, the public must be aware and responsible. Disorderly behaviour cannot be tolerated," he stated.
He assured that law enforcement agencies are actively working to maintain stability and prevent mob violence. "Efforts are underway to curb mob activities. No one, apart from law enforcement agencies, has the right to conduct raids," he reiterated.
Regarding security measures for Ramadan and Eid, Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury added that authorities are taking necessary steps to prevent robberies and snatching incidents. Security has been reinforced in high-risk areas, especially on highways where such crimes have been reported.
