Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has declared that individuals responsible for deteriorating law and order through crimes such as mob violence, mugging, extortion, and sexual offenses will face strict action, with no exceptions.
During an early morning inspection of Tejgaon, Dhanmondi, Shahbagh, and New Market police stations on Monday (March 10), he addressed journalists, emphasizing the government’s firm stance on maintaining security. He instructed law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in combating criminal activities.
He stated that the government is committed to ensuring law and order, particularly during Ramadan. To this end, nearly a hundred checkpoints have been established at key locations in the capital, and patrolling has increased in high-crime areas. Officials from the Home Ministry have been assigned to monitor these checkpoints and nighttime patrol operations regularly.
The advisor stressed that those involved in organized crime—be it theft, robbery, mugging, extortion, or acts of violence against women and children—will be brought to justice and face severe legal consequences. He affirmed that no offender will be granted leniency.
According to Faisal Hasan, Director of Public Relations at the Home Ministry, the advisor inspected various police station facilities, including reception areas and detention cells, during his visit. He also engaged with duty officers and law enforcement personnel, providing necessary guidance and directives.
The Home Affairs Advisor also visited several checkpoints across the capital, interacted with officers on duty, and monitored joint patrol team operations to ensure effective law enforcement.
