An old video from different events has been falsely circulated as footage of a meeting between former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and a UN team. Hasina was ousted following the July 2024 uprising.
According to an investigation by BanglaFact, a fact-checking and media research unit under the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), the video in question was originally from 2023, when Sheikh Hasina was given a civic reception in London. However, it has been misleadingly shared on social media, claiming to depict a UN team meeting in Delhi.
The investigation revealed that the same image of Hasina—originally from the Awami League’s 2023 reception in London—was repurposed and falsely linked to the supposed UN meeting in Delhi.
BanglaFact confirmed that the video had been misrepresented and circulated in a misleading context.
