Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay concluded his two-day state visit to Bangladesh and left Dhaka for Thimphu this morning.

Chief Adviser's Press Wing said that Foreign Adviser M Touhid Hossain saw the Bhutanese Prime Minister off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport as the flight departed around 8:30 am (BST).

Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin and Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam were also present at the airport on the occasion.

Before his departure, the Bhutanese Prime Minister was accorded a static guard of honour in line with state protocol.

During his stay in Bangladesh, the two countries signed two Memoranda of Understanding — one on healthcare services and another on internet connectivity.

The Bhutanese Prime Minister also attended a series of events, including bilateral talks with Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

His schedule also included meetings with advisers, key government officials and political leaders.

Bhutanese PM Sends Bouquet to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia

Bhutanese Prime Minister has sent a bouquet to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia on Sunday at 8:00 pm.

A BNP delegation led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with Tshering Tobgay at Hotel Intercontinental here.

Following the meeting, the Bhutanese Prime Minister sent the bouquet through Mirza Fakhrul as a gesture of goodwill for Begum Khaleda Zia.

BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said the bouquet was handed over to the hospitalized BNP Chairperson by the party Secretary General.

Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul, along with BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid, held discussions with the Bhutanese Prime Minister.

During the meeting, Tshering Tobgay inquired about the health of Begum Khaleda Zia and also discussed matters related to trade, business, energy and other areas of mutual interest between the two countries.

Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital tonight for health checkups.

Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, her personal physician as well as a member of her medical team, told reporters around 8 pm that the decision was taken on the recommendation of the medical board formed for her treatment.

"Madam has been admitted to Evercare Hospital for several tests as advised by the board. She is now in a cabin. The board will review the test reports before taking further decisions," he said.

Khaleda Zia was last admitted to the hospital on October 15 for routine health examinations and was discharged the following day after completing necessary tests.

The 79-year-old former Prime Minister has been suffering from health complications, including arthritis, diabetes, kidney ailments, lung conditions and eye problems.
